Because it's not the RAM that is more expensive (though that was the
case until recently), at that point it's the board which is the more
expensive propposition. Not very much, but enough that I wouldn't be
able to afford it. If I had $400 instead of $250-, then we'd be talking
(better board, better RAM, and more of it! Cuter case, to boot (no pun
intended)). Besides, the system is for basic home use (word processing,
e-mail, basic internet, and some toys), no power-users are really going
to be messing with this system. It just needs to work decently for a
while (maybe a couple of years in hope use and then...?)
