Does anyone know what the difference is between Gnome as what comes with a
Distro installs and Ximian?
In other words. Can one still update the Gnome libraries etc. without
install Ximian? At one time I thought I heard that Ximian was the new
Gnome.
I tried to install a package the other day and received some error messages
and when I talked to the developer about it he suggested I install Ximian
as that's what he was using when you wrote the program. Note the install
was from a source file and not an RPM.
I have also seen a performance decrees with Ximian on my think pad. And
I don't want to upgrade my desktop to Ximian unless that is the only way to
get the latest Gnome libraries.
Thanks for any feedback on this.
