Use the following tools: they should work:

1) Save the image attachments as .ps (.eps) files. This can be done by
GIMP. Then, go to the net and grab yourself a tool called ps2pdf. That
should give you the solution you need.

Note that there are a wide range of format2format tools that you can
find on the web. Some of them are more useful that other for various
reasons, including the flexibility of the lanuage you are working with
(ie. XML as opposed to HTML), and the stage of developement of the tool
(for example, docbook2html is well developed, but html2pdf is not, and
html2docbook would be almost impossible to do correctly).
