I am a member of the Suncoast Linux User's Group and I read a post that
mdlug agreed to meet with microsoft people recently. Is this true? If so,
what is your stated purpose in doing so? I am sure you are aware that ms
has a solid record at being anti-linux, anti-gpl, and anti-freedom. Could
you please explain?

I do not know the Mdlug.org position. If there is an argument, it may be
between the proffered position, and possibly Secretary Albright's line, "We
choose engagement over isolation."
For me, it is simple to create a defense for our politico-economic
system; like you may want to use in support for Linux.
You know, like, how will a couple of drops of poison improve our potable
water supply? Fascism /w Capitalism, for example.
But I do not know if the simile is as tight, vis-a-vis Microsoft. The
relationship seems more analogue; than discrete to me.
Ostensibly, the political observations seem to comport with your
position; but few technical issues and impasses are being presented.
I relate to Russ's response. Meet with them, get paid, and then tell them
all of the things that they are lacking- specifically and inspecifically.
I do it at the Microsoft seminars by asking questions about inodes, vi,
fsck, man pages, etc. It drives them nuts; and I win more frisbees and Swiss
Army knives.
The last time I won a little troll doll. A stunning, East Indian girl was
looking at it; while her boyfriend caught me gazing at her. He was not
encouraging; but looking seemed to be harmless. With his permission, I gave
my troll to the princess.
So, I guess, that would be my response regarding Msft. Look; but do not
touch. If you touch, one way or the other, you could get blued. Offer them
the troll.

Ps: If you happen to know anyone with a Scarab, or large sailing vessel,
would you please let me know? I want to connect to the Space Station via bow
sprint and GPS. The Scarab is just for recreation.
