I brought this up a few meetings back but didnt have much nfo on it--but I
did try it------its ok I guess. anyway this was the posting on freshmeat in
case anyone is interested. This does work fine and all but my feeling was why
another desktop/window manager? It is independent of the others tho so there
might be a few who care to use it so

Athene 1.1.2

Categories: Desktop Environment, Desktop Environment :: Window Managers
About: Athene is a multi-platform runtime environment. Based on XML and an
object oriented foundation, it literally builds itself at runtime from
user-editable XML scripts. It is X11-compatible, so you do not have to give
up any of your existing X applications if you choose to run Athene as your
default environment. Four GUIs are included, including Windows and Amiga
interfaces that are accurate clones of their counterparts.
Changes: This release adds a native Text Editor application, support for
clipboard activity, new script-based commands, a faster menu system, and
double click support. A bug in the CLI, messaging problems that was
affecting stability and errors in the Courier and Arial fonts have been
fixed.
