There's a pretty good chance that someone will pick up the hosting
facilities and contracts and everything can just stay where it is.
We've seen this kind of thing before and it usually works out that way.
Of course, we've also seen it in healthier economies.
Besides, isn't "Chapter 11" just "protection" and not actually "going
out of business" which is "Chapter 13"? So it sounds like they're just
asking for credit protection while they figure out whether or not they
have to go out of business or how they can sell off all their assets and
which ones so they can stay in business.
Personally I would not be sad to see them go. They had some seriously
unethical marketing practices. Even though relatively we're miniscule,
NKS competes with them with our hosting services, and we've had clients
receive letters and email from Exodus sales/marketing folks essentially
slandering our hosting services in attempts to get them to use Exodus
instead. (Or is it libel that's considered "spreading lies with the
intent to harm business prospects?")
