I think we have all been misdirecting our energies vis a vis this MS Vs
Linux thing.

You are not going to knock off MS,, get over it.

What we can do to make inroads into their installed base is make a case for
the security of 'Diversity'. None of us envisioned the WTC disaster, nor
the Enron collapse. What happens if MS falls prey to its own greed? They
have a huge bite to chew each month just to make payroll, not to mention
401-k's, pensions, healthcare, etc. they are desparately looking for a
reliable revenue stream. Their new subscription 6.0 plan is falling on its
face and XP has not set the world on fire at the stores. So where do they
get their money to feed their large appetite?

We should be suggesting that the IT community diversify for protection from
just such a possibility. There are more than just a few IT executives that
would consider that a very good reason to incorporate Linux in their IT
plans.

Actually, the Linux Workstation is a reality in most generic office
situations and the Linux server has already proven itself.

Rather that pointing out the fact that MS is a monoply, we sould simply
suggest that diversity is healthy for the enterprise. It is much easier to
make a case for the multi-platform office that an office without MS.
