I think my phrasing is allowing you to read too much into this.
The line is suggesting that you COULD use the Linksys to provide the DHCP
function. That way it is not necessary to configure a "server" to handle
that function.
I use it at home and no server is required to run my network.
If the intent is TO configure a server to perform this function, I
would still suggest configuring the Linksys to do this function anyway,
THEN disable it, then use your "server" DHCP. That way you always have
a quick backup should the "server" you configured DHCP on, go down, the
network would still be easily & quickly configured to provide DHCP till
that "server" is again online.
