Josh;
Sorry to hear about your job situation. I work at Pinellas County in Water
Quality Operations. They have quite a large IT/IS department handling
migrations of supervisory control operation software at different water
treatment plants and wastewater plants. I am not aware of any linux usage
at the County which is disappointing. However, you might find a need for
your database skills. The supervisory controls (SCADA) work from an Xwindows
environment in a VAX station. I know they are migrating to a new Windows
based system. Sorry, I am not completely knowledgeable in the IT/IS arena as
I am in the environmental industry. Keep good spirits and you will find your
ideal job. Hopefully more county and state governments will move to linux
due to budget concerns, opening up more jobs for your linux experience.
