I never cared for IKONS that much (with winblows 3.11 half were black)
so after trying them all (installed with Slackware) I stuck with
enlightenment, I can run all gnome and kde programs. (there is a sub menu
for each)
enlightenment is a menu based screen manager, and it seems flawless
to me.
