Unfortunately the only way if you want to send raw data directly to /dev/lp0
and not have it stair-step would be to change dip switches or however your
printer sets it's config. Otherwise you can do it with your printcap.
Older versions of CUPS have an optin to fix stair-stepping, but I think the
newer ones do it automatically.
