Hello All,
        Thanks to all who responded, but I finally remembered last how to
disable it. Heh, I wasn't evening sitting in front of a computer, but
cooking of all things. The solution is to comment out this line from
/usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xsetup

xconsole=${BINDIR}/xconsole

Not quite as brutal as wholly deleting xconsole =) But to each his own.
