FYI. I solved this problem and just wanted to post the solution in case
anyone else runs into this. It turned out that the Ethernet card
settings were set to FULL Duplex. When I changed this to Auto my problem
was solved. I can now scp a 224K file in seconds rather than hours and
My wife is very happy with her internet surfing speed now.
