The testing circuitry in the battery itself may be at fault. APM is a function
of your BIOS, and generally NOT a problem within Linux' apm support. I'll
wager that you'll find the same problem with the DOS/Windows tools as you
will with the Linux apm module or tools.
Now ACPI on the other hand... that's something completely different.
