Sorry,
I know this is not a Linux topic and will just drop it if necessary. But,
while looking at both hpna and wireless I have noticed both never
mention-include Linux as a system for use with install. Both systems mention
only software for windows, but I know my linksys works fine with my Linux
boxes on the back-end so I am assuming that either will work on a
windows/Linux system.
As an afterthought I should add I know what is required for wireless net etc
but was wondering which would be the best and was looking for recommendations
mostly. I would like to do the following:
connect linksys to the cable modem and from linksys to puter 1 mount a
phonebridge from the linksys and have hpna to the other room and in that room
basically a reverse, a phonebridge to the linksys and linksys to the other
puters.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried this or knows of any reason why it
should not work? I would like to keep costs to a minimum primarily because I
don't run with Gates-Rockefeller-Getty-and the crowd.
I have a ethernet lan set and all the nics so figured costs would be the 2
phonebridge units. I considered security and because I know nothing of
wireless security figured the linksys would be a good basic block for the
entire system, each net having its own firewall behind the linksys.
I just don't really know much about either alternative, hpna or wireless, and
am looking for some input or direction. I really don't want to spend money,
no matter how much, and find out that I have a poor or malfunctioning system.
So I am not married to the above described scenerio and would like any
suggestions for a system or cost controll, security, install, etc.
I figure I have about another 2 weeks before the cable is due for another
month.

           Thanks,
            A J
