It's called capitalism, not wageism and it is stacked
against wage earners and always has been. IT workers
just didn't realize it because their industry was so
new it seemed "different". It's going to get even
more savage now that the Dick Cheeney's of the nation
are in full charge, so you have only one hope, start
your own bussines or co-op.
There are zillions of opportunities out there to
create a new kind of economy and there are many things
a small business can do better than a large one. For
example, there is still time to get in on the ground
floor on Linux gaming, there is a whole new model for
the music industry which will emerge soon, etc.
Find some area which you find interesting, but are not
very knowledgeable about like one of the above
mentioned, find some people who have knowledge in that
industry, but have no clue how to set up a network or
build a web site or manage a database. Help that
person and have him help you and together become the
new moguls (or at least players) in some industry you
actually find fun OR go to work for some dismal
insurance company or law office as their
webmaster-system administrator-database developer-java
programer-help desk supervisor-etc-etc-etc, for $28,000/year.
