Latest info:

I tried commenting out the "splashimage=(hdl1,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz"
but no difference in loading. I looked at the syslinux.cfg file on my
boot disk and it contains the following:

default linux
prompt 1
display boot.msg
timeout 100
label linux
 kernel vmlinuz
 append initrd=initrd.img root=/dev/hdb5

Shouldn't there be something referenced like "label DOS"?
If I type DOS when prompted to boot I get the message:

"Could not find kernel image:dos"

Continuing thanks,

-Michael
