Linksys was acquired by Cisco in March of this year (the announcement
was released on March 20, 2003). With the acquisition Cisco has added
on capability in the low-end home/SOHO networking market (Cisco's
products are primarily managed products with expensive price tags (over
$1,000) whereas Linksys products are unmanaged systems with a much
cheapter price tag (my Linksys router was $80 at the local Radio
Shack)). As part of the news release Cisco indicated that they may
consider incorporating some of Cisco's own technology into the Linksys
product line at some point in the future.
