Slashdot is referring to a thread (readable on google) on
alt.os.linux.mandrake, saying that in the 9.2 release,
they added a packet writing patch to the kernel that will
destroy a LG based CDROM reader drive. Yes, destroy
the drive. This drive is found in many Dells for instance,
Optiplex series, others. The 9.1 version did not show this
problem. I just got done reading this. The drive gets wiped
on install and then takes out the IDE controller until it is
physically removed from the buss (then the ctrlr is OK
apparently, but the drive not.) Wierd stuff.
