I'm going to suggest that for your actual installation, you may want to 
try Mepis instead of Knoppix. It's easier to install. It's still "Debian 
with training wheels"  like Knoppix, and runs from the CD before 
installed. But once installed it's closer in ease of use to Lindows or 
Xandros, except unlike them it's registration optional to support 
development, not "give me money to touch it." http://mepis.org
Strange to say, Mepis developer Warren Woodford is getting enough 
voluntary registrations to cover his costs. He's talking about doing 
some "value add" stuff he'd charge for, like selling Crossover products 
and Win4Lin and providing custom and semi-custom "cubicleware" versions 
for specific business purposes, but for now the "tip jar" model seems to 
be taking care of his modest needs.
