Yes. I have a Netgear wireless access point that also serves as a
hardware firewall (and wired network router) that cost less than $100,
and it's just one of many models out there in this price range. Building
your own home or small office firewall with an old computer and Linux is
a great learning tool, but that's the way you need to view that project
nowadays. The little packaged box is a better deal otherwise if your
time has any value at all. And as mentioned, it uses less power and
makes less noise -- and also makes less heat and takes up less space.
