Was that an external modem?

I have two external modems; a USB (Supra Express) and a standard 9-pin serial
port model (SmartLink 5634TS). Both work just fine. The USB model requires
kernel 2.3 or better.

After reading Roblimo's review of it, I tried Mepis a couple months ago and
didn't much care for it (I'm satisfied with Fedora) but the review
specifically mentioned automated installation of Winmodems so I thought it
could be worth taking a shot at it. Different strokes ....
