The option to keep the latest version of pico from wrapping is "-w".
It's great as a quick editor, but most of the time I use emacs.

If you do use pico, make _sure_ it doesn't wrap (on disk) long lines.
Used to be, you would have to invoke it as "pico -t" (IIRC; "t" = "tool")
to disable that.
