Bind 9 has the ability to perform dynamic dns updates similar to
Microsoft DNS server. Your clients can update the dns tree when they boot.

There is even a module for webmin to configure bind dynamic dns:

I've been curious but too busy (read as "lazy") to configure it. Like
you, I run dhcp in my network, but I'm pretty tied to my hostnames.
