Matt,

  Sounds like a very interesting ordeal. I recommend using EVMS on the
bottom of it all to do your disk imaging backups.. I believe all
versions > 1.2.x will be able to handle UML. As per the VM .. why not
UML -- it's free and AFAIK will handle oracle.
