I'm shopping now for a laptop that runs Linux well. I just gave away my
old Dell Inspiron. It ran Linux decently, but I was disappointed with
the ruggedness of the parts. Lots of things fell off. Little pieces of
plastic chipped away, etc.. My Toshiba Satellite is very well supported
under Linux, but not so for the newer models. The Thinkpad T22 is a
perfect size and weight, but the video is not well supported and I need
to turn off all accelerations or else it locks up on some graphics. All
said, I'm looking at another Thinkpad (likely the T40 or T41) or
possibly the base PowerBook.
