Curious... tieing up a CD drive doesn't have to be a problem. Even
with leaving the knoppix disc in, many people have two optical drives.
And of course if you have RAM coming out of your ears then you can
run knoppix completely off a ramdisk and eject the cd once it's
booted.
The not enough RAM / performance concern may be very valid though
depending on how large your virtual machine needs to be.
