I have an Nforce2 mb and radeon 9000 graphics card. No problems except
I did have to add a modeline in my xorg.conf
file to get the 1680 x 1050 resolution for my Dell LCD display.
I still think this CompUSA Emachines Deal for $200 is a good way to go.
They don't use proprietary hardware anymore. The little guy I picked up
yesterday has the following
MSI K8M800 (7142) motherboard - socket 754 3 pci 1 agp slot
AMD 64 bit Sempron 3100 cpu
Seagate ST380011A 7200 rpm 80 GB HD
LG 4165B dual layer DVD+-RW burner
Samsung PC3200 DDR ram (only 256mb - 1 slot open for more)
You couldn't buy the above for the total price I paid, and that's
without the
case, keybd, mouse, speakers, and other stuff it came with.
