Odd... That's all? Usually, you want purchasing to be integrated into your
manufacturing bill-of-material process, rather than stand alone.
You might want to check out Visual Jobshop (win only):
http://www.visualjobshop.com
It's really good stuff, with scheduling, order entry, quote management,
bill-of-material, etc. I've played with it and it looks really good.
Now for the open source players:
Compiere: More work and more complex, but a real ERP system, open source:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/compiere
These guys offer a port of Compiere that uses MySQL:
http://www.infosecuresystems.com/micompiere.htm
webERP: uses Apache, PHP and MySQL-Max:
http://www.weberp.org/index.php
NOLA: uses Apache, PHP and MySQL.
http://nola.noguska.com/gpage.html
I'm not crazy about using MySQL for this, but MySQL-Max (I'm told) is quite
robust.

Subject: [SLUG] Inventory and purchasing program.
Although I am a boatbuilder by trade, my boss (knowing of my hobby) has
given me a project. We are controlled by our mother company in Ft.
Lauderdale.
He wants me to find a program that can do inventory (the normal stuff) and
purchasing.
The parameters are:
A purchase order is written locally.
It is transmitted for approval to the boss. (Ft. Lauderdale)
After approval, a check request is generated and transmitted to the
appropriate person (Ft. Lauderdale)
A confirmation or denial is generated for our local purchasing.
Price is a factor, as is scalability. It can be linux or windows. It can
reside on a remote server.
Any suggestions? I looked on Freshmeat but was unsure what keywords to look
for.
Thanks-A-Milloin
