I can't enter non-ASCII characters in some X apps any more. I never had
problems with it before. I have call to do it fairly often, as some of
the CDs I'm ripping have non-English tracknames that require them.
Used to be, I'd hit e.g. Pause/Break " a and it would print ä. It works in
ksh/rxvt and pine/xterm, but not in bash/xterm or bash/rxvt or xmms.
Correction: if I tab-complete a filename with non-ASCII chars, they look
fine, but ls's output replaces them all with '?'. Bjørk has been mangled!
I define Pause/Break (keycode 110) as Multi_Key with this command:
xmodmap -e 'keycode 110 = Multi_key'
I checked with xev that it's still defined, and yes it is.
I tried LANG=C, LANG=en_US, and LANG=de_DE; no dice. What could be the
problem?
