I believe the java version that comes with SuSE 7.1, which is jdk1.1.8v1, 
will not work properly with Netscape 6.  You need jdk 1.3.0_01.  It has been
a while since I set this up, but I recall I had to set up a path to netscape. 
You cannot use both versions.  I removed the old jdk .  I set up my java 
directory as /usr/javadks with one jre for netscape and the other for 
StarOffice.  Yes, they need different jres!
