It's not a very good metaphor though, most snakes actually try to avoid
conflict whenever possible.
So maybe you should clarify by using a metaphor of a "black racer" or
better yet, "black mamba" or "king cobra," any of which are highly
aggressive, don't back away from confrontations, and in the case of the
cobra and mamba, are supremely venomous.
I prefer the cobra myself, I think they are quite a regal and beautiful
animal, although there's something to be said about the sleekness and
simplicity of form of a black mamba, and there's also the fact that the
black racer is native to Florida.
Should probably stick with king cobra - its diet consists mainly of
other snakes.
