Certifications are usually about vendor's pushing product, even some
Linux vendors I usually like *COUGH*RedHat*COUGH*.
It looks like they are striving for the LPI track. That's a good
thing. LPI is a non-profit org that is trying to make Linux
knowledge something that means something, in defiance of traditional
thought. They also aren't challenging the licensed engineering
profession on titles. My favorite is the Microsoft logo which
places "Professional" right above "Engineer" which is a basically
like calling yourself an MD or PA.
Even though I'm one of those "anal engineers," I would take great
interest in an LPI certification. Of course, I'm in Orlando so I
don't know how much help I can be in person.
