It really is that simple. This is a forms-based interface that allows you to
decide which ports on which machines get which protocol passed to them and
whether it is a two-way street or not. It also establishes whether internal
IP's will be static or dynamic, whether the external IP is static or dynamic,
sets passwords and so on. It works with RAS and PPOE, IIRC. No firewall /
router is perfect and continuous vigilance is counseled, but the Linksys
hardware can go a long way as a front door.
Basically, the router IS a computer. A low power, single / limited purpose,
computer.
