gcc should be in /usr/bin as gcc-3.2.2 and a symbolic to it as gcc.
I am using gcc-3.3.2, I think you should upgrade as soon as you get
3.2.2 working. (bug swatting)
I am just a user and I know nothing, but I have a feeling c compilers
have no external dependencies beyond the common simple c libraries that
everything uses, perhaps they are part of the gcc installation, I have
read c compilers are extremely simple.
